Williams Lake TRU Invites You To Explore The Possibilities

For the third straight year Thompson Rivers University Williams Lake Campus will be putting out the welcome mat for potential students.

Today (March 6) from 3 to 7 pm anyone considering a new career, upskilling or planning an education journey are welcome to attend the Annual Explore TRU event.

Marketing, Student Recruitment and Events Coordinator, Kim Kimberlin, said it’s a chance to engage with the broader public on the University’s programming as well as a chance to connect with potential employers.

“We’re really trying to highlight pathways people can take from education to career and to have conversations both on the educational side and as well as the employment side in terms of what to expect in the job field. Whether someone is a current student, a prospective student, or just wanting to support education and the community, it’s a family friendly event that’s meant for everyone.”

Kimberlin said there will be booths set up throughout the campus so visitors can tour the school and get a feel for the environment.

“We’ll also have a virtual welding simulator. People can put on a headset and see what it’s like to be a welder. We’re trying to have an interactive component so people can actually participate as well as learn and ask any questions they may have.”

Visitors can also learn more about TRU’s Study Abroad program that offers students the chance to complete part of their education internationally while gaining global perspectives and valuable skills.

“Whether starting fresh, reskilling or advancing in a career, this Explore TRU event provides the tools and connections to take the next step in everyone’s education,” Kimberlin said.
