It certainly felt more like the start of Spring than the final days of February yesterday (Sunday) in the Cariboo.
Environment Canada Meteorologist Derrick Lee said it got up to 11 degrees in both 100 Mile House and Quesnel and 10 in Williams Lake.
Even though it was quite warm, Lee said no records were tied or broken.
“We were very close. The magical number needed yesterday (Sunday) was 12 degrees. Getting into 10 and 11 degrees it was in the top ten for sure. It looks like we’ll in this above normal temperature trend this week and into the weekend, 5 to 10 degrees warmer than normal.”
Down the road to Thursday (February 27) the forecast is calling for a maximum daytime of 13 in Williams Lake and Quesnel, 11 for 100 Mile House.
“The weather pattern will be similar to what we had over the past weekend. We’ll have warm air accompanied by gusty winds that will be responsible for the double digit temperatures. In order to break a record for Quesnel and Williams Lake it would have to be a little warmer at around 15 degrees or more but for the 100 Mile House area the magical number is 11 degrees so a record could be tied or broken there,” Lee said.
Looking ahead to the first week of March, the region may see warm temperatures as well.
