A Win And They’re In To Face The Quesnel Kangaroos

The Williams Lake Stampeders continue their best of 3 C-I-H-L playoff series this weekend against the Smithers Steelheads.

The stamps took game one 8-3 on the road last Saturday.

Head Coach Derrick Walters said he was very impressed with how well his club competed.

We had a good effort in Smithers. Everybody seems to be gelling well at the right time so we definitely have a good shot here to take that game away right away and move onto the next round. All of our lines were going, everybody was playing for each other so it was an all around good team effort.”

Even though the score in game one heavily favoured his squad, Stampeders Head Coach Derrick Walters isn’t taking their opponent lightly.

They’re a hard working team, not the most skill up front but their hard work pays off and does the job for them. They have a really good goaltender too so we have to make sure that we put a lot of pucks on net to solve him early and often hopefully.’

Game three if necessary in this series would be played Sunday afternoon (February 16) at the Cariboo Memorial Recreation Complex.

Should the Stamps secure a win they’ll play the Quesnel Kangaroos starting February 22nd.
