Sacred Heart Catholic School in Williams Lake posted on their Facebook page that they are overjoyed at the recent news they received.
The Catholic Independent Schools Kamloops Diocese Board of Directors met on Thursday (February 6) and after careful consideration announced they are rescinding the decision to close the school at the end of June.
In a letter from the Superintendent of Schools, Christopher Yuen, stated this decision is conditional subject to a couple of matters.
Confirming in hand donations amounting to $170,000 earmarked for the school’s operational use by February 28, 2025.
The other, that the Superintendent’s Office work with the Pastor and Local School Committee to provide a critical path and guidance on the question of sustainability as well as well as clarity to the community on school governance.
“The school now has the task of scheduling all outstanding family interviews with school administration and Pastor as part of our admissions process. The school will also need to determine the level of needs for any incoming student and level of support it can provide,” Yuen said.
He added much of this will assist in forecasting the next school year’s budget and will better assist the sustainability planning efforts that will be underway soon.
