Team Effort Needed To Extinguish Structure Fire In The Dog Creek Road Area

The Williams Lake Fire Department joined forces with the 150 Mile Fire Department to extinguish a structure fire.

They were dispatched Friday (February 7) just before noon to the incident on Gibbon Road in the Dog Creek area.

Williams Lake Fire Chief Evan Dean said upon arrival the structure was fully involved with smoke and flames coming from all sides and it was confirmed that no occupants were inside.

He said crews had a great deal of difficulty accessing the fire due to the stage of fire development as well as the considerable amount of debris and vehicles throughout the property.

At this time the cause of the fire is unknown although it is not considered suspicious and the occupant has been connected with resources from Emergency Support Services,” Dean noted.

In total, 25 members, 3 command vehicles, and all 6 of Williams Lake Fire Department’s large apparatus responded to the fire, as well as one tender from 150 Mile Fire Department and an excavator.

Dean said crews finally wrapped up at approximately 9 o’clock that evening.

The Williams Lake Fire Departments thanked the 150 Mile Fire Department, Williams Lake RCMP, Dawson Road Maintenance, BC Emergency Health Services, Fortis and BC Hydro for their quick response.

They also remind the public that homeowners everyone could be very helpful to firefighters and emergency responders by ensuring there is clear access to and entirely around their homes.
