Improvement Project Planned Now Funding Is Needed To Get It Done

The District of 100 Mile House is looking for funding to help with improvements they have planned for the Martin Exeter Hall.

Mayor Maureen Pinkney said they are looking to obtain $129,990 which is fifty percent of the project cost and the District’s share is the other fifty percent.

“We’re looking to install air conditioning, add a supplemental heating system, modernize the climate controls, and install high efficiency HVAC components. Upon completion, Martin Exeter Hall would have a more efficient heating/cooling system, fewer breakdowns and better environmental controls creating overall better temperature and humidity conditions in the building,”

As to when the District would like to get these improvements started, Pinkney said as soon as funding is approved.

“We are ready to upgrade. Our forecasted completion date would be the end of 2025 but it could potentially be done sooner.”

When asked if there is any other funding the District will be looking for in regards to other projects they would like to do, Pinkney said there are always ones on the table waiting for the applicable funding stream to come on board.

“Our Sawmill Creek Bridge replacement that will take place this year is still underfunded from the aspect of the entire project that was suppose to be a joint funding from the Province, Federal and Municipal funding. Since the length of time it has taken to get to the rebuilt stage, prices have increased a lot and the funding from others has not,” Pinkney said.

She added the District continually sources out funding from anywhere they can to stretch their dollars to enable them to complete as many infrastructure projects they can in each year as well as look towards the future on what the community needs and wants.
