Mission Accomplished For The South Cariboo Health Foundation

They didn’t just meet their goal..they surpassed it!

Once again South Cariboo residents came through to make the 2024 edition of the Starry Nights Fundraiser a huge success.

Public Relations and Fundraising Coordinator for the South Cariboo Health Foundation, Danielle Sabiston said thanks to the generosity of the community a total of $101,363 was raised eclipsing the target goal of $90,000.

“This is my first year doing this so I’m thrilled to be successful and blown away by the kindness shown for this cause year after year. We can now purchase for the 100 Mile District General Hospital a Video Conferencing System to allow staff to consult with specialized professionals from other hospitals when performing procedures. The other piece of equipment is an Omni Cell Automatic Medication Dispensing System.”

Sabiston said the Starry Nights Fundraiser helps to provide services to people from Clinton, 70 Mile, Lac La Hache, all the way up to 150 Mile and along Highway 24.

The next Starry Nights Fundraiser campaign won’t get geared up until September or October but the South Cariboo Health Foundation is already looking to start something new this coming Spring.

“It’s a Memorial Bench fundraiser that will probably start around April,” Sabiston said. “We’ll have about 10 Hospital benches up for sponsorship that 100 Mile House staff had pointed out spots where they’d like to put those. They will include a plaque with whatever the sponsor would like on it. We already have one at the Hospital that thanks all our First Responders and Firefighters during that horrific wildfire season in 2017.”

More information about these benches Sabiston said will be coming out sometime next month.
