Handgun Found during a Vehicle Inspection in 100 Mile House

A vehicle check on Highway 97 in the South Cariboo revealed a loaded handgun.

100 Mile House RCMP and Cariboo Chilcotin Crime Reduction Unit stopped a vehicle with two occupants along the 4000 Block area on January 24. RCMP says the driver did not have a valid driver’s license, and “a loaded pistol magazine” was observed in the vehicle.

Police inspected the vehicle upon observing the loaded magazine, and both the driver and passenger were arrested.

“Upon the search, a knife and brass knuckles were found on the driver,” says Sergeant Brian Lamb of the 100 Mile House RCMP. “A search of the passenger yielded a handgun that was concealed on his person. The handgun had ammunition in it.”

Lamb says police found a substance “suspected to be cocaine” in the vehicle.

RCMP says the driver and passenger are still in custody, and the investigation is continuing.
