Overwhelming Outpouring Of Support Given To Sacred Heart Catholic School

Hope’s to keep Sacred Heart Catholic School in Williams Lake from closing at the end of June due to its financial challenges got a little brighter.

In a letter from Chris Yuen, Superintendent of Catholic Independent Schools Kamloops Diocese, he stated there has been an overwhelming outpouring of support.

Yuen said this remarkable support has come in the form of both one-time donations and pledges from individuals and organizations.

“The pledged financial contributions we’ve received so far have been nothing short of miraculous and thanks to this incredible generosity, Sacred Heart Catholic School has real hope of continuing to thrive and provide the high-quality Catholic education that our students, and community, deserve. The support provided so far is a strong indication that the school can remain financially secure and powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together.”

Yuen said there remains much to be done around the longer term sustainability of the school with much progress being made during the meeting held earlier this week.

The Board he said will meet again on Thursday February 6 to assess the progress.
