The ‘F-Bandits’ Strike Again?? This Time Diesel Fuel also Taken

A red Ford F-350 is a victim and suspect of crimes committed in 100 Mile House.

Sgt. Brian Lamb of the 100 Mile House RCMP says the pickup in question was reported stolen from Industrial Road.

“On January 13, RCMP received a report of mischief and theft of a vehicle from a business located on Industrial Road,” says Lamb. “It is suspected the vehicle was used to damage the gate to leave the location.”

Lamb says police suspect the same red pickup was used in another mischief and theft crime later that night at the Watch Lake Transfer Station where diesel fuel was stolen. The gate to the station was also rammed, and vehicle body parts “damaged as a result of the collision” were found at the scene.

“There was evidence left behind to suggest it was a Ford pickup that was involved. ‘Suspect’ and ‘100 percent’ are two different things, but given the incident and the parts that were left behind, there is some reason to suspect it is the same vehicle that was taken from Industrial Road.”

Police are still on the lookout for the truck in question. The license plate of the truck is MN8797. Police urge anyone in the 100 Mile area who may have seen the vehicle or seen either incident to bring any information to the detachment.

“This vehicle is still out there. If anybody sees it, call the police immediately. Do not approach the person.”

This is now the fourth weekend in a row with either an attempt or successful break-in or theft of a Ford F-series truck. Trucks left in open areas for longer periods have been the primary targets.

Police have found “several” of the missing trucks, and believe the thieves are local.

“It’s [clearly] not as random as normally would be with vehicle theft. In the last few weeks, they are definitely targeting F-250s and F-350s more.”

RCMP has no suspects at this time, the investigations are ongoing.
