Cariboo Memorial Hospital Public Access Changes for a Night

The 200-foot crane in Williams Lake will have one final impact on the community for one night only.

The crane that has graced the skies while also perturbing some residents of Williams Lake will be dismantled from January 11 to January 12.

While the crane is taken down, Interior Health has issued precautions for temporary disruptions to public access and traffic flow around Cariboo Memorial Hospital. Interior Health says, “there is no impact to hospital services.”

The temporary changes are as follows:

Jan. 11, 7:30 a.m. to Jan. 12, 5 p.m.
• Vehicle access lane between hospital main entry and parking lot closed
• Pedestrian access through the hospital’s main entry remains open
• Main visitor/patient parking lot remains open, with intermittent traffic delays by flag persons.

Jan. 11, 7:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Intermittent traffic delays at the entrance to the main patient/visitor parking lot access off 6th Ave / Gibbons Street.

Jan. 11, 5 p.m. through Jan. 12. 5 p.m.
• To help guide patients/visitors, signage and flag persons will be posted at strategic locations to alert incoming traffic/pedestrians and direct to alternative locations. All CMH and Deni House entrances will be open and accessible during the traffic diversion and parking lot closures.

The crane has been the tallest structure in Williams Lake for a little over one year, while the first phase of a major development project for Cariboo Memorial was under construction.

The coming down of the crane signifies the end of Phase 1 of Cariboo Memorial’s Development project, and the beginning of Phase 2.

Something going on in the Cariboo you think people should know about?
