Once again a Williams Lake business has shown it’s Christmas Spirit by helping those in need this Holiday Season.
For the ninth year City Furniture in Williams Lake has generously donated all the turkeys and fixings the Salvation Army needs to put on their Christmas Dinner this Monday.
Owner Rami Pannu said the community has supported them very well over the years that they’ve been in the Lake City so we like to give back in this way.
“Christmas time is a very cheerful time for everybody so the least we can do is to have everybody have a good meal and a nice dinner. I thank Frescho who supplied the groceries and the volunteers at the Salvation Army to make this dinner happen.”
Pannu said we brought everything they asked for, turkeys, vegetables, potatoes, pies, everything that goes into this full meal.
“I’m very happy to be able to do this once again and hopefully we can keep doing this for the coming years.”
Williams Lake Salvation Army Family Services and Community Outreach Director Tamara Robinson said she has feelings of immense gratitude to have received this generous donation over the past years.
“I’m so incredibly grateful for our community partnership with City Furniture over the past nine years providing this vital service to those who need it most.
Robinson said their annual turkey dinner will be served up starting at noon this coming Monday (December 23).
“We’re hoping to see 300 people come in. We’ve seen as high as 280 before so I’m hoping that more people will come out this year to partake in the festivities. We’re going to cook 20 turkeys to begin with but I’m expecting to cook 25 in total.”
Tamara also expects to have an additional 10 to 15 people volunteer to serve the dinner as well as the Williams Lake RCMP and the Fire Department.
“A special thank you to the community, to all those who have donated over Christmas time whether it was sponsoring a family or through our angel tree program and of course to City Furniture, we are very grateful,” Robinson noted.
