Donations Rolling In For Williams Lake Freshco Food Drive

The spirit of giving is alive and well at Freshco in Williams Lake.

Once again they are holding their Holiday Food Drive for the Salvation Army Food Bank.

Owner-Operator Evan Haubrich said they started it on December 2nd and will conclude on December 24th.

“So far it’s been going very, very well. It consists of our colleagues putting together food bank bags as well as asking for donations at the checkouts. So far we have surpassed $3,000 in terms of fundraising. The best part of it is all the money and donations stay local going directly to our Salvation Army to help support people in Williams Lake and area.”

This weekend, (December 14 & 15) Haubrich said they will be doing a “Corporate Match.”

“Up to a maximum of $250,000 our parent company Empire will be matching whatever is donated at the checkouts. The great thing about Williams Lake is the community really gets behind things like this. We’ve surpassed our target already which is phenomenal, I do have a couple of cashiers who have raised over $500 each so it’s really nice to see the colleagues getting behind it as well, it’s been a great team effort.”

Those wishing to donate a prepared food bag to the food bank they are available for $5, $10 and $15 at the checkouts at Frescho.
