Once again it was another successful traditional Holiday fundraiser for the Food Bank in the South Cariboo.
Pledges starting flying into the Country 840 radio station when morning man Chris Adams got the Turkey Day fundraiser going at 6 this morning. “We’ve been doing this since 1988 so this was the 36th year for Turkey Day. We hit our goal of 400 turkeys a little bit after 10 o’clock and of course pledges will still be rolling in for at least a few more days and it’s all for the 100 Mile Food Bank Christmas Hamper Distribution.”
Adams noted that it was a bit slow when they got going this morning at 6 as people are just waking up getting their coffee but we had a few big donations come in before 6:30.
When the fundraiser ended, the turkey pledges stood at 408 and Adams noted that the largest Turkey Day pledge total since he’s taken it over from Larry Rhode was 819 back in 2020.
If pledges are redeemed before the 16th of December those who donated will have a chance to win some prizes that have been donated to the station by some of the local businesses.
“Turkey day went fantastic as it always does,” Adams said, “this town always comes together to help us with this very worthy fundraiser for our local Food Bank.”
