As winter starts to take hold in our region, Central Cariboo Search and Rescue wants you to enjoy this time of year safely.
On their Facebook Page they posted that their Auto Extrication Team had responded to a couple of motor vehicle incidents earlier this morning (Thursday).
SARS reminds drivers to please slow down and to give yourself plenty of extra time to get to your destination.
Drive to the road conditions and allow for the appropriate amount of space between yourself and other vehicles which will give you lots of time to stop and make turns.
Most importantly, Central Cariboo Search and Rescue reminds motorists to be cautious of First Responders on the road, if you see or hear lights and sirens, safely pull over and give them the space they need to respond.
When it comes to spending time in the back country Media Relations and SARS member Deborah Bortolussi said it’s important to follow BC AdventureSmart’s three T’s: Trip Plan, Train and Take the essentials with you.
“Ensure that your essentials also include ways of communication, extra things to keep you warm and always being prepared for an emergency. Never slight on that Trip plan, tell someone where you are going, what you are doing, with details included, and when to expect you back,” Bortolussi said.
