The Cariboo will get it’s first taste of winter this weekend.
Trevor Smith, Meteorologist with Environment Canada said a frontal system is coming into the region starting tomorrow (Saturday) bringing with it some snow.
“I think we’re looking at at least 2 to 4 centimetres in the 100 Mile House area and maybe 5 to 10 centimetres Williams Lake to Quesnel. I think the highest amounts are going to be East of Highway 97 towards the Cariboo Mountains. This doesn’t look like a massive storm coming but definitely it’s a reminder that winter is close.”
Smith noted that the system will move out of our region tomorrow (Saturday) night followed by a cooler air mass taking over on Sunday with more snow on the way Tuesday through Thursday.
“Our averages for this time of the year are a high of about plus one and a low of minus seven. As we get into Monday we’ll probably only see highs of about minus one and lows of minus eight. Tuesday through Thursday is the time to be on the watch for more snow,” Smith added.
