Tourism operators from across the region were in the Bella Coola Valley recently.
Last week they attended the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Tourism’s (CCCT) annual Tourism Summit.
In addition to guest speakers sharing tips for the operators, awards for the past year were handed out.
CCCT Chief Executive Officer Amy Thacker said this was the first time since the COVID pandemic that they were able to do that.
“We were able to recognize some great operators from across the region for their hard work and efforts and contributions. One of my favourite parts of the Summit was handing out these annual tourism awards.”
Six in total were given out including a new award.
“It’s called the Generational Award to recognize our longtime families and operators that have multiple generations contributing to the economy and positive development in the Cariboo Chilcotin Coast Region,” Thacker said, “and that first time award went to the Bracewell family.”
Bracewell’s Alpine Wilderness Adventure is a 400 acre homestead located West of Williams Lake on the way to Bella Coola.
They also operate Wyld Whisper Trail Rides in Williams Lake.
Other award winners from our area included:
South Point Resort in the South Cariboo near Canim Lake won Best Tourism Marketing Initiative Award.
They earned the title of the Best Wedding Venue that led to sold out bookings for 2024 and 2025.
And the innovation in Tourism Award went to Tutti Gravel Inn in Clinton, the first gravel bike hotel in BC and Canada.
“It was great to see many familiar faces in the Bella Coola Valley, Thacker said, and so many people energized about the year to come for our sector and for our organization.”
