Northern Development Board Chair Wishes Their Outgoing CEO All The Best

Someone who knows the City of Quesnel’s newest hire for City Manager very well expressed her congratulations to him.

Northern Development Board Chair Margo Wagner said she remembers when Joel McKay joined the trust in 2012 as the Director of Communications then becoming CEO in 2016.

Wagner said they worked together for years and have become really good friends and that Northern Development Initiative Trust is truly sorry to see him go.

It is a huge loss to the Trust. There is no doubt about it. This is a really good move for Joel. He got as far as he could and I think he was looking for a new challenge and I think Quesnel will provide that for him. S now we’ll (NDIT) will be on the hunt for a new CEO.”

Wagner added what McKay has done for the Trust is amazing building a phenomenal team and developing incredible relationships with MLA’s and local government officials across the province.

The one part that I’m really glad about is that he will still be in the Cariboo Regional District so I will still get to see him which is good because honestly Joel could have probably gotten a job anywhere in this province without a doubt.”

Wagner believes that NDIT will have some really good candidates apply for his position because the Trust is more well known than it was in 2016 mainly thanks to Joel just being out there.

We wish him all the best in his future endeavours and I am sure that many of us will cross paths with again,” Wagner added.
