Quesnel Will Have A New City Manager In The New Year

The City of Quesnel has appointed a new City Manager.

Joel Mckay, who served as the Chief Executive Officer at Northern Development Initiative Trust for the past eight years will start his new role with the City January 2nd 2025.

It has been a privilege to have had the opportunity to serve as Chief Executive Officer at Northern Development Initiative Trust,” Mckay stated in a release, “and I look forward to utilizing the skill sets that I have developed there to fulfill the role of City Manager for the City of Quesnel.”

Mayor Ron Paull said Mckay’s drive and ambition will be a great asset to the community and that Council and himself look forward to working with him on projects and initiatives to help further develop the City.

The City of Quesnel began the process of recruiting a new City Manager following the resignation of Byron Johnson who accepted a position with the District of Clearwater.

Deputy City Manager Kari Bolton will continue to fulfill this role during this transition until McKay starts his new position in the New Year.
