Community Shake Out Drill in 100 Mile House

The community of 100 Mile House is gathering together for Shake Out Week.

100 Mile’s Community Hall will be converted into an earthquake and natural disaster preparedness centre between 1 – 3 pm on Sunday, October 20th, to help ensure everyone is set and knows how to Drop, Hold and Cover in case of an emergency.

A community wide drill will start at 1:30 pm, and there will be lunch and games held after for everyone.

The Community Hall will have different zones prepared so the community can practice the different areas one could be trapped in during an earthquake. This year, Shake Out BC has added and improved steps on how to handle an earthquake and other natural disasters if you have disabilities, and help someone with disabilities get to and be provided with safety.

Other areas that have been updated with newer science on how to be safe include safe areas to cover under in a business and office, motor vehicle safety while driving, natural gas, and animal safety.

For full breakdowns and more information on how to be prepared visit shakeoutbc.ca.
