Residents in B.C. earned over $921 in the latest average weekly earnings survey by Stats Canada.
Economist, Emmanuelle Bourbeau says the 2.9% increase was led by several sectors. “Manufacturing saw an increase of 7.1% followed by Health Care and Social Assitance at 4.9%. Wholesale Trade went up 4.7% while Retail Trade saw an increase of 4.5%.”
It was the third largest increase in Canada only behind Ontario and Prince Edward Island.
The national average for weekly earnings is just under $960.
Earnings in Alberta fell 1% to $1,147 over the past year.
