Members of Williams Lake City Council attended this year’s Union of BC Municipality convention.
The event took place in Vancouver at the Convention Centre from Monday (September 16th), and ending yesterday (September 20th) afternoon, with around 200 resolutions.
Councillor Scott Nelson said the City had some highlights through the week.
“We did some significant lobbying with regards to Terra Ridge. We had a good chat with projecting and proposing putting in an involuntary treatment centre within our region to assist us with people with mental illness and drug addiction.” says Nelson.
“We got a commitment from the BC Conservatives and MLA Lorne Doerkson on their strength and positivity behind ensuring that Atlantic Power remains open.”
Nelson says they also spoke with Premier David Eby, along with Ministers and BC Hydro Board Chairman, and anticipate they will be working harder to come to a solution to ensure short and long term viability for Atlantic Power.
Overall he says Williams Lake hit a number of key home runs, and planted a number of key seeds for various projects needed in the community.
