With a higher than normal traffic volume on Highway 97, BC Highway Patrol Focused enforcement from 83 Mile to Hixon.
From August 15th to 18th, BC Highway Patrol officers from Williams Lake, Quesnel and 100 Mile House served 151 violation tickets that included distracted driving, defective vehicles and 106 speeding tickets.
Police said they impounded the vehicles of three impaired drivers and prohibited them from driving for 90 days.
Officers also impounded the vehicles of six prohibited drivers.
Two drivers were arrested on outstanding warrants for drive while prohibited and disobey of a court order, both were released with a future court date.
Northern Highway Patrol Sargent Jason Nash said “As we approach the final long weekend of the summer, BC Highway Patrol will continue to target high-risk drivers with the goal of eliminating serious injury and fatal collisions on our Highways. The enforcement that was conducted over the weekend had a positive impact on the communities that our officers not only serve but reside in.”
