Once again the Thompson Rivers University 100 Mile House Regional Centre will be putting out the welcome mat.
On Wednesday (August 21) from 11 am to 2 pm they will be hosting an information session for those looking to continue their education.
TRU Academic Director Kylie Thomas said this is great opportunity to get acquainted with the Centre and the people working there.
“There will be representatives from the Kamloops Campus, the 100 Mile House Regional Centre as well as the Williams Lake Campus. And these folks are there to help anyone who is interested in exploring the opportunity for up skilling, re skilling or University prep for transitioning into careers in Healthcare, and or Trades, these are the people you need to talk to.”
Thomas said the reps can get individuals all set up with everything from advising to an assessment of where your current skill levels are at, as well as how to fund your educational pursuits.
Along with the regular programming offered at the TRU 100 Mile House Regional Centre, you can also learn about their new University Preparation courses starting this Fall heavily focused on multi-level English, math and computer courses.
“These are entry level courses.” Thomas said, “They are intended to prepare students for future pursuits in Post-Secondary. For those students who maybe stopped out of High School or took a gap between High School and their Post-Secondary experience it’s intended to do that. It’s really about an opportunity to get those prerequisites under your belt so if you’re looking to go into Healthcare, or maybe into the trades and your require just a top-up or even just be refreshed or reacquainted with some of these concepts you can take these courses right here in 100 Mile House.”
And with Fall just around the corner, and new school year about to begin, Thomas said on Wednesday there will be a team at the TRU 100 Mile House Regional Centre that can answer most if not all of the questions a future student might have.
