Fertilizer Canada calling on Ottawa to avert impending rail strike

It’s a move Fertilizer Canada says could have disastrous effects on crop yields and food security.

The group says ahead of an anticipated labour disruption on August 22nd, CN Railway and Canadian Pacific Kansas City have issued immediate embargoes on fertilizer shipments — with further embargoes and slowdowns in rail service expected.

Fertilizer Canada is calling on the feds to take immediate action to help all parties reach agreements – including ordering binding arbitration to prohibit a strike or lockout.
