800 housing units were lost during Jasper wildfire

Preliminary figures show last month’s wildfires destroyed over 280-million dollars worth of property in Jasper.

And while nearly 360 structures were destroyed, town officials told a virtual council meeting that 800 housing units were lost.

It also equates to over $2-million dollars in lost annual property tax revenue.

The town’s 5,000 residents can begin returning on Friday.
