Highway 16 has been reopened through Jasper, but only for commercial vehicles…..and no stopping in the town is being allowed.
Parks Canada officials say the wildfire that destroyed one-third of the town’s structures is still burning out of control to the north.
They’re putting together plans to allow evacuees still in B-C to travel the highway back into Alberta, as well as escorted tours to allow residents to see the damage.
The town itself remains out of bounds, as crews work to restore electricity and natural gas supplies.
