Limited nursing availability strikes again at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital emergency department

For the third time in a row, the Cariboo Memorial Hospital emergency department will be unavailable overnight.

Interior Health said limited nursing availability will be affecting emergency services from 5:30pm tonight (July 6th) until 7:30 am tomorrow.

Patients are being asked to access care at either the 100 Mile District General Hospital, GR Baker Memorial Hospital in Quesnel, or the Bella Coola General Hospital.

They added all other inpatient services will continue as normal at Cariboo Memorial Hospital.

People in the community who need life-threatening emergency care should always call 9-1-1 for transport to the nearest available and appropriate facility.

This is the seventh emergency department service interruption at the Cariboo Memorial Hospital since February.

More information about the service interruption can be found on Interior Health’s website here.
