Cariboo region could see multiple record temperatures set over the next few days

The Cariboo region will be seeing temperatures reach the mid to high 30’s, bringing record setting temperatures.

Williams Lake and 100 Mile House will come close to record highs for tomorrow (July 7th) and Monday, with temperatures sitting between 32-35 degrees.

Operational Meteorologist, Morgen Shull says the Cariboo region will have the best chance at a record break on Tuesday.

“For 100 Mile House, it will be 38 degrees, the record high was 33.5 in 1985.” says Shull.

“Williams Lake is forecast for 36, the record high was 31.7 in 1975, and Quesnel is looking at a high of 36, with the record high being 35.6 in 1920.”

Shull says temperatures are expected to moderate by Wednesday and Thursday, down to around high 20’s to low 30’s.

she points out that there is a potential for that heat to rebuild by the end of the week.

As of Saturday (July 6th) morning, only 100 Mile House is under an extreme heat warning.

More information about the forecasted weather can be found on Environment Canada’s website here.
