Williams Lake to celebrate Canadian Royal Purple Week this month

Williams Lake will officially be taking part in Canadian Royal Purple Week for brain injury awareness.

From May 12th to the 18th the work that’s been done Williams Lake and BC Royal Purple will be celebrated such as the support to the Kiwanis Park play box.

Secretary Treasurer, Darlene Doucette says the work being done comes with the community relationship.

“The other events that are happening, the bike rodeo (May 19th) and the Mother’s Day breakfast, we were looking for someone to help us with something,” says Doucette.

“so I contacted the Lions Club and they said ‘yes we can give you a hand, could you give us a hand’ so, that’s part of the partnership that we have with the community.”

Following the Canadian Royal Purple Week, a walk, bike, run, wheel fundraiser will be taking place May 26th at Boitanio Park in support of BC Brain Injury.

Doucette says brain injury awareness is critical, even for people outside of sports, as the recognition for those in a violent situation gets far less attention.

Anyone wishing to register for the fundraiser at Boitanio Park can email Doucette at [email protected], and more information can be found on the organizations Facebook page here.
