City of Williams Lake seeking expressions of interest for Active Transportation Working Group

Work towards an Active Transportation working group is getting underway for Williams Lake.

The group will meet four to six times a year to find ways to improve active transportation in the community, with Fraser Basin Council (FBC) supporting development and administration for 2024-25.

Fraser Basin Council Regional Manager Jane Wellburn talks about getting the group up and running.

“The initial goals are to establish their structure, their commitment over the year, and then how is their input going to be used by City staff in the planning process.” says Wellburn.

“It’s the sort of number one goal, is to see that the issues or priorities being brought forward by the group take shape in how this City is approaching active transportation.”

The FBC created an Expression of Interest for community members to engage with planning through the group.

The Expression of Interest will be on the City’s website, and they encourage anyone interested to submit their applications to join the working group by May 15th.

The City said the FBC is a charitable, non-profit organization bringing people together to advocate sustainability in BC.
