Interior Health gives positive quarterly update to Williams Lake City Council

Williams Lake City Council was given a presentation by Interior Health for their second quarterly update last night.

The different areas included, Mental Health and Substance Use, Facilities Management and Operations, and Clinical Program, all highlighting different steps being done to improve health services in Williams Lake.

Mayor Surinderpal Rathor says there’s still a glaring issue that Interior Health needs to improved on.

“We’re building the relationship, we’re getting regular updates, we’re getting regular communication, but they have to improve the communication much more. There is a need for that.”

An example that can be given, which was brought up at last night’s council meeting, was the overnight emergency room closure on Monday (April 29th).

Communication with the public needs to get better, which Rathor says the City is a Facebook community, a post on Interior Health’s social media site would help notify the community.

Interior Health commented during the meeting that they’re working on their communication to better notify residents.
