The future and long-term plans regarding the potential reopening of the Mt. Polley mine have not been finalized or disclosed yet to First Nations according to the Chief of the Williams Lake Indian Band.

Chief Louie says she also has she spoken with the Ministry of Energy and Mines and also Imperial Metals, expressing her concerns of letting First Nations know about anything that is occurring with the mine.

A meeting that is part of the 30-day public consultation process on Mt. Polley’s permit for a partial restart of operations is scheduled to take place for First Nations on April 23.
