It appears the issue of changing the angle parking on Reid Street in Downtown Quesnel has now been laid to rest.
Councillor John Brisco led the charge saying that is was backward and that the angle parking should be on the left and the parallel parking on the right.
He said that it was dangerous for drivers trying to back out on the right and that people are taught to parallel park on the right and many people don’t do it well so they do it even less well on the left.
Despite all that the final decision, as it usually does, came down to dollars and cents.
Director of Public Works and Engineering Ken Coombs…
Coombs also cited the need to maintain a consistent approach to angle parking in the downtown core as a reason for recommending leaving the parking the same.
Councillor Ed Coleman noted that each parking stall represented about 100 thousand dollars in sales.
